Are my documents being shared with third parties?
Cihan Kılıç Aydın emphasizes that a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) must always be requested when receiving translation services.
“Any translation service without an NDA cannot be considered secure. Documents must be stored in a closed system and never shared with external parties,” she stated.
Are your translators experts in their fields and bound by confidentiality protocols?
Aydın underlines that medical texts should be handled by professionals with medical expertise, and legal texts by those who understand legal terminology.
“Every translator must be committed to ethical protocols; otherwise, both errors and security risks may increase,” she noted.
How is my data protected in digital environments?
Highlighting that KVKK and GDPR compliance must now be a fundamental standard, Aydın added:
“Documents should be kept in encrypted, secure, and controlled environments. Agencies that use cloud-based systems must be questioned carefully.”
Is a second-round check performed before delivery?
“Just as a good translation requires accuracy, a secure translation requires double-checking,” Aydın said, emphasizing the importance of a transparent edit–proofread process.
She continued by explaining the significance of this process:
“In this workflow, the first step is editing. During the edit phase, the entire text is reviewed for consistency of meaning, correct terminology, fluency, and coherence. When necessary, sentence structures are rearranged. This ensures that the translation is not only accurate but also professional and readable.
Next comes the proofread stage. In this phase, punctuation, spelling mistakes, minor grammar errors, and technical inaccuracies are corrected. The text is polished one final time before delivery.
In professional translation services, these two steps ensure that the delivered text is both accurate and flawless.”
Are my documents deleted from the system after delivery?
Aydın concludes:
“It is essential to know how long documents are stored and how they are deleted.”
